Pictured: Me at the wheel

So I was walking around a neighborhood doing some car spotting and noticed 2 cop cars parked, one in front of another. I happened to have my camera with me so of course I stopped.

I started taking pictures of the cars and all the battle scars they had accumulated from years of use.

Of course they had a selection of scratches and dents everywhere. Everything was normal as I was taking pictures, other than a neighbor walking by and asking "What did they do?"

So as I'm taking pictures, 3 cops walk up and ask, "Do you want to look in the interior?" It doesn't matter how old you get, that's still fun.

So I take more pictures, including the one at the wheel. When they were about to leave, I asked if they would mind pulling side by side so I could take a picture. Not only did they, but they even turned on their lights!

So yeah, some officers just being nice pretty much made my day. On top of that, we chatted about the new cop cars. They pretty much said the new Chargers suck. The interiors are too tight and they aren't that quick. They did like the new Explorers and Taurus' though.

Yep. Don't need to pay for registration every year. Same for all government vehicles here.

Thats Awesome! I want to do the same here with the local law enforcement, I am a little more scared of doing it though.

My dad is buddies with a CHP officer. He's the coolest guy ever. Total gear head. And really nice guy

That is so cool - nice to run into some police folks with a good attitude. Our local force had Crown Vics, went to the Chargers a couple years ago and now are going back to the new police package Explorer "interceptors".

My entire experience of the police up to the age of 20 something was like this - they were just doing their jobs and being a part of where they were. Someone is taking pictures and it's all good and in fact, they are part of the scene.

I am so glad to see this article. This is what it used to be like for nearly everyone, even when you weren't doing what the system wanted. My perception (and I'm willing to be wrong) that's not the general experience anymore.
